I spent a little time today doing some simple photoshop studies of whatever popped into my noodle.. Just an exercise, to work on my painting techniques. Started with simple monochromatics.

Yeah,

I know its pretty a saccharine and toothsome, truthfully I also felt kinda uncomfortable working with it. But it was a quick study, I just sat down to noodle it out really fast like. sketch in Flash was in under a minute or two then spent a little while fiddling in photoshop trying to pick what I liked. Perhaps a little under 50 minutes all together.
Hope you dig this little punk, and remember there is like 44 shopping days until x-mas time.

From the Frozen Fjords

Well,
October is winding down. Holidays around the corner. I wanted to post this right quick while I make some last minute preperations for some computer service that I need to attend to... My Laptop had been acting screwy of late so I will have to relinquish it to the people of Apple so that that they can sort out the problem. This month has been pretty good for posts. I am not sure If I will be able to rock this pace next month.... Maybe I will do better... I dunno. Perhaps I'll have something tomorrow, then I'll be away for a week or so.... But with some discipline, in that time away from posting. I will try to make someart that will make you smile when I fire up the posts again.

Thank you all again for your support. Without other artists out there. This wouldn't be as much fun.

To Celebrate post number 83 here is a doodle of a Norseman with a big ol' hammer. Lets see if I can break a hundred posts by the end of November. Furthermore, lets see if I can kick up the quality to a whole new level.

Korean Flash KARD.... "A"

Okey Doke. Hey boys and girls... I am back again to share what little korean I know with you good folks out there.
Hopefully, I will do all the rest of them and have a full set of 26 critters. With all kinds of good Korean stuff.
So Here you go.

"A" is for Alligator, and I know that it might look a little like a crocodile. But, It's an Alligator because I have something else I planned for the letter "C". Now for the pronunciation. To say Alligator in Korean you need to syllables "AH-GO" it is a very short word with only one consonant. Think about saying "AGO", and adding a little AHH to the a part. So, "Ah-Go".

Also, here is an added bit of information, since I have already covered the letter F with a FOX.

I wanted to say that the word for FISH in korean is "MUL GOGI". Three Syllables and it actually is a pretty cool word. In short it means "Water Meat". "Mul" (MOOL roll U like a double OO) for water, and "GOGI" (GO Gee, just like it sounds) to make delicious Fish into a korean word.

Pumpkin' Frank.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!

So, Like I said I am working out the odd drawing to give my Father "Del" some ideas for pumpkin carving this year. Here is one I will actually send him.... the black areas would be caved out and I might suggest that he only gouge out some of the stitching on his neck and head to keep it sturdy.... The hair highlights might be a bit dodgy but, I imagine that my father'd probably make whatever I sent him better. Cuz, he's just awesome like that.

Far East Beast.

I was doodling some ideas for a pumpkin carving late last night....

I miss carving the mystic orange melon, and my father asked me to churn out some rough ideas that he might carve... so that we could have the finest pumpkins on the block back in michigan. I remember taking great pride in the act of carving the stuff.... good stuff.
SO here is a doodle that I would never ask my father to carve.... unless we built a dremill tool to scribe it all out. I would probably render some of the pumpkin surface with shading or sculpting so that i didn't have to weaken the pumpkins structure too much.... I like it though.

Another oddity of the MET.

So, I think I did this one about six months back or so. I was at the met on a SketchCrawl.... The Odd thing is that when I did the drawing I remember really likeing it. But, for some reason when I unearthed it tonight I looked at it and felt like it was Awfully Skunky. I hope it isn't just me.....I marvel how quickly I turn on my drawings....one day i love it....two hours later I don't.
Sigh....
I hope Jean Auguste Dominique Ingre isn't spinning in he grave right now.

HEY YO!!,

Well, I was at the Met last week to do some drawings with my friend Nat. She had been wanting to do this for some time so I freed up wednesday a little to get out. It was a good way to get out of the rut.....I have to admit that there is just so much of that museum that I just haven't seen.....Sigh....where is all the time.

Well here are some of the sketchs from that fateful day....I may have tossed a little color at them and tried to find photos for a side by side on all of them.. But, I could only find one. I will have to have Nat shoot photos with her iPhone next time...

TAG HEED.....

I dunno. Living here on the Island I see a lot of Tag. Some of its really great, and a lot of it realy Blows. Here is a five minute doodle with a purple sharpie I had in hand some time back. Not the color of my dreams but I ran with it....
HAPPY!!. I think people should do more tag with the can lodged in there mouth..I would be a real challenge on those overpasses.
