MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

March is upon you. MODOK calls to you.

Brendan and I are getting things together for this (our fantastical SIXTH!!!) year of MODOK appreciation and tribute.  So, I made this calendar full of MODOK heads to get people in the right frame of mind.

We hope you'll get involved and help us make this March full of maniacal mindblasts!  So, pop on over to MARCHMODOKMADNESS.blogspot.com to get more info, and send us your MODOK images.

We've got 31 days to fill, and it should definitely be more entertaining the college basketball.

Hello, like before....

Hey everyone,

Sorry I've been away for a bit but I'd rather not dwell on it too much.  Had a good long with family and friends back home and am readjusting to life here in the big bad city.  Right now I want to see about getting back into a steady regiment of sharing stuff here with you all...

I may not have been POSTING, but at no point did I stop drawing.  I've even picked up markers again recently and am trying to have fun with those too.  Getting some new photoshop chops as well.

Don't believe me?  Behold a scurrilous stack of scribble-dy scrawl and select strange sketches.

The photo is a few months old... So, the heap is a bit bigger now, and I look forward to sharing it with you all in the coming months.

For now though I'll go get some sleep seeing as how I'm not feeling very well today.
Take it easy everyone, and best wishes on 2013..

I hope you dig,
P

400!?!

Wow, I though I'd have gotten to this faster. But things continue to be pretty chaotic for me of late...But, I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, and hope that my life gets back to a more regular flow in the coming weeks...

Its funny that I've knocked out about 400 posts in the last three years or so.... I wonder what the next year holds...Maybe I'll try to post four hundred times in one year?

Who knows..

But I wanna thank you all for following along, telling your friends, and leaving me all kinds of great comments..
I appreciate it so very much.

Here are some

I.C.U.C. We All C. My I.V.

Hey everyone,
I'm not posting drawings for a little while recovering from my recent surgery. But, I assure you that I am drawing... I've got the down time.
Also, I don't want to boar anyone with the details or gross people out but, I figured this was interesting. Its the crazy bruise on the inside of my left arm where they feed me my LIQUID HAMMER, and intravenous sleepy time cocktail. Now I'm not afraid of needles, but, I kinda wished he'd put me out before he'd stuck this thing in my arm..
that needle was long..and was in the vein halfway up into my bicep before he stopped feeding it in there. Still, I'm told the procedure was a roaring success and, that I just need to take it easy and recover....

Least I've got the colorful bruises to entertain me....
Awesome!..

QUASIMODOK!

Some Literary scholars now believe that Victor Hugo's masterpiece The Hunchback of Notre Dame was based loosely on one of Modok's earlier ancestors.
He lived above the Cathedral and didn't bother too many people. In fact he was really sweet on this gypsy girl too, but he wasn't much to look at. So, when an angry mob of French peasants ousted him, from his domicile for his terrifying appearance. He fled to seek out a life of revenge...this led to killin', and mindblasts down the road. Thus continued the long time honored Modok heritage.

That being said, this'll be my last MODOK for o9'.
I wanted to thank everyone involved for making it a most excellent year indeed.
With Special thanks to my Co-captain BrendanTOBIN for his crackerjack effort and time spent keeping up with updating submissions while making awesome Modok images. Also, I'd like to thank Kasra Ghanbari for peppering our mailbox with wonderful Modok drawings from his vast personal stash.

I've got plenty of unfinished drawings here on my desk, that I hope you'll come back and check out during next year. Other then that I strongly encourage you to take some time to browse the site, lots of great work, tons of great artists, and one BAD ASS MENTAL ORGANISM.

So, Farewell 09'
Get ready for...

RICHARD WILLIAMS!

SHOOK The man's hand and thanked him for Jessica Rabbit.
He signed my Copy of the survival kit (which I am reading again now), and the evening was sort of a live infomercial for his new 16 DVD Set.
http://www.theanimatorssurvivalkit.com/index.html
Its all the stuff from the book, accept you get his live drawing and discussion, along with, animation of all the stuff in the book to help illustrate key points.
All of this for the magical price of.
$914.08 US Dollars (subject to exchange rate changes).
WOW........I guess I have some lawns to mow, and a few yards to rake. But, I wouldn't mind owning it, when I have that kinda disposable income...

Still, even beyond the sell of the evening, I AM UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN THERE!

He was very animated, even chatty for a man of 75 year and furthermore I was humbled by some of he said, I took notes. Which I will look over again at another time to further digest. He talked about some of the greats, Jones, Kahl, Harris, and others whilst peppering with the odd video clip.

Really an enjoyable evening, happy to have been there. Made me want to pick up my pencil and GO, GO, GO!

BruisePatrol: One week Anniversary.

All the colors of the rainbow.... You might not be able to see it but there is a large yellowish bruise that travels down the lateral side of my foot to my toes also. Sorta nervous lately, thinking that this may keep my ankle from acting the way it used to...

Well at least I know its sore, and I have to imagine its healing..although I am not sure how my body knows how to put it back together. Big Mystery.

Hope your all doing better then I am, and will look forward to posting some more drawings up soon.

BruisePatrol: Day Five

Look at all the pretty colors.
Shot this image five days after the injury. And right now it actually looks worse, I just don't wanna take it out of the splint to snap a shot.
Seeing the Orthopedics guy today was not fun at all...the dude (DR.Torquemada, as far As I am concerned) prodded, twisted, squeezed, and stretched my poor ankle. All so that he could tell me what I kinda already knew. The bruising is actually getting a little richer hue in a few spots. Because of the visit. Furthermore some of the swelling and pain has returned....FUN!!...

So, I'll be in the cast and crutches for a few weeks....the ligature on the outside of my ankle, is all torn up.

Wish me luck...

BATTERED BEAR...

FINALLY, GOT THAT IMAGE!!!

Hey all,

Today I am older. I've been on the planet for some time now but realize that there is still much that I haven't experienced. So, a few nights back I gave myself the experience of serious personal injury.

While running in a quest for better personal fitness I jammed my foot into a gopher hole at the side of the running path and twisted up my ankle. The Vital joint made a sound like wet celery being twisted. I came close to breaking it and though that I might have but after some X-rays and about six hours in the E.R. I found it was a severe sprain (which is bruising nicely now) and the doctors recommended it be immobilized.

So, I hobble now on crutches, I am bad at it. However its a new experience....I think this is the worst injury I've ever sustained. Short of a few Broken hearts and the occasional bruised ego.. For this I am thankful, because with my diminished mobility I realize how much I've taken simple acts of walking, or standing for granted.

I have an image to go with this post I'll put it up soon.

Thanks for keeping in touch everybody.

Sincerely,

Pedro

ADDITIONAL MURAL FALLOUT.

A few posts back I mentioned the Mural design and stuff that I did through work. Yes, My parents are thrilled and I think they told my whole family about it. But beyond that, I am exceedingly happy that I had the opportunity to do something I love, which was then in turn put towards something positive.

So yesterday I was kinda surprised when I got a call from the Office P.R. Department, saying that Creative Magazine wanted to ask me some questions related to these designs..
I spoke with Kunur Patel for about five or ten minutes. About the work, the event, and whatever else I felt like rattling on about (really should have prepped some notes). After that the then rattled out the nice little article found here.
GREY TAKES DESIGN TO THE CURB.

GIVE by the POUND!

So,

I had a partial day at work today. We had this (GREY GIVES) community works function planned through the agency to beautify the southern end of HIGHBRIDGE PARK. Some weeks back I'd submitted a few mural ideas for this project. I'd heard a few of them where selected. But, I didn't know this was happening with them.
1,900-FOOT CANVAS!!
Three murals I submitted wound up being selected for as a repeated pattern down a stretch of the high bridge bike path (photos to come).. More astounding then this was that I saw my name in the NY Times (blush). Other then that I was doing some murals that where presented to a local public school show below.

Even Weirder still is that the Shirt I am wearing in that photo won me a little prize for best shirt design of the day. Too Bad your too far away to see. I will share it on down the road. I wanna try to make another one first.

I coulda' spent all day on these murals but, am exceedingly thankful that I had all the assistance from team #16 to crank them out in a little under 3 hours. I will post up the original images I submitted for the mural judgings tomorrow, along with a few others that didn't make the cut.

In the end I painted, chatted up some of my friendly co-workers, publicly danced like a fool, won a t-shirt design contest, and planted small bushes in the occasional patch of poison ivy..all while almost falling down a hill..... It was an awesome day.

Hope your all well,

Thanks for checking in...I promise more art in the next post.
