QUASIMODOK!

Some Literary scholars now believe that Victor Hugo's masterpiece The Hunchback of Notre Dame was based loosely on one of Modok's earlier ancestors.
He lived above the Cathedral and didn't bother too many people. In fact he was really sweet on this gypsy girl too, but he wasn't much to look at. So, when an angry mob of French peasants ousted him, from his domicile for his terrifying appearance. He fled to seek out a life of revenge...this led to killin', and mindblasts down the road. Thus continued the long time honored Modok heritage.

That being said, this'll be my last MODOK for o9'.
I wanted to thank everyone involved for making it a most excellent year indeed.
With Special thanks to my Co-captain BrendanTOBIN for his crackerjack effort and time spent keeping up with updating submissions while making awesome Modok images. Also, I'd like to thank Kasra Ghanbari for peppering our mailbox with wonderful Modok drawings from his vast personal stash.

I've got plenty of unfinished drawings here on my desk, that I hope you'll come back and check out during next year. Other then that I strongly encourage you to take some time to browse the site, lots of great work, tons of great artists, and one BAD ASS MENTAL ORGANISM.

So, Farewell 09'
Get ready for...
MARCH MODOK MADNESS 2010!

Femmes Au Fiddle Faddle....

Plus Bonus DR. Manhattan.
Horray!!!

These came out on my train ride yesterday some of them are from my noggin, and some of them came as interpretations of ladies on the train.
A splash of color, and now its in your eyeballs..
Hope you dig..

Dusty, Rusty, and otherwise Unkepmt...

So,

I'm still getting the occasional word on the sly from my friends here in the city about my neglect of blogging responsibly, and never posting certain things, and yadda, yada, ya ya ya. You know who you are, Well here you go.....

Are you happy now?
Because I am. I trekked out of the office last night into the light drizzle of the bustling east side. Strolling up Lexington Ave. to a place that I'd only read about in books (about C.D.Gibson, one of my hero's) and heard fellow artists mention in passing. But, last night I set foot behind the big red door at the corner of 63rd and Lexington.
I went to the Society of Illustrators!
And it was a great evening in so much as I did drawings. Longer drawings, 20 minute poses even. I haven't done that from a live model in what seems like forever. And sadly it showed a little. It was kinda like hauling your yard tools out to do gardening in the spring and finding out that they needed to be sharpened, cleaned, and honed again. But, after only one night I've got the fire again to get back into it and improve my drawings, BECAUSE I WANNA GET BETTER.

There was live music, a bar, and it was a little crowded.
But, Damn!.. Some fine models, under good light, and I got to sit really close (possibly too close) to the platform. Nice poses, some costumes, and props too.
I'm still reeling a little from the experience.
Needless, to say its more expensive then the other figure drawing session (that one's free) I frequent. However, I know now I'll be going back, I'll just make sure that I'm writing it all offa my taxes for 09'...

Yeah, Good times, from 6 to 9.

So, lemme know what you think and I'll go and clean my tools to draw like a demon next time I visit.

Hope you dig.

WHIZZEN SKIZZEN!

The last batch was so well liked, SO.

Here's another compilation of Sketches....Patched together with a little Photoshop.
Nothing fancy... Trying not to focus on rendering and treating these like they where coloring book items...
Wanted to play with color.

Hope you dig.

SCRIBBLE SCRABBLE.

I just chucked some rough photoshop tones on these, and rotated the drawings that where sideways and upside down (cuz when I sketch I turn the pages around).
Beyond that this is a look at how I sketch..

Hope you dig,
I'll dish out some more soon.

Leathertaned SunBUNNY!

You've all see her at some point or another.
Even if its the dead of winter, her skin has that carrotish sunkist glow.
Here hair is brighter then cornsilk, and you know she's probably younger then she looks.

Just, an observation. Pulled from an old stack o'drawings.

PATTYWHACKERY!!

I've been getting some vicious hate mail recently and my friends are trying to get me to lay off the Photoshop...
Maybe they're right....
Well Here are some of my naked drawings, without too much photo chopping. Heck you can even see that I'm drawing on flawed printer paper. SILLY PRINTING ERRORS.
Happy ST. PATTY'S day.
BE SAFE, one and all.

GAP TOOTHED VIXEN...

YEP,

Its a girl...I NEEDED to draw something non-modok based to break the cycle.
So, she started out as a head and then with a little photoshop. She is what you see here.
I'm pleasingly surprised by the results here, and figure that I might actually take another stab at it in the future...where I figure out her body a bit more.
Lemme know if you'd like her number.

Also, if you haven't yet, I just dropped a new piece over on MARCH MODOK MADNESS
Please pop on over and scope it out, along with all the other great work we've had come in. Its really been a great a GREAT MARCH SO FAR.
