MOODY MOODLIGHTIN MODOK

Here's a little Wednesday evening post to keep the month of MODOK marching (See what I did there?) along. Started with a value study on this one and then hinted at some colors rather than hitting it with the fully upgraded Photoshop gun. Gotta remember to keep the paintings loose sometimes. I'll be kicking out more MODOK images for the rest of March over at March MODOK Madness. Stay safe everyone, and keep on Mindblasting.

Putting some MODOK back into March Madness.

Long time no post,

I'm getting set here to kick off the fourteenth year of March MODOK Madness with my friend Brendan. I will try to share a few of my submissions here during the month while I make friends with some of these interface changes I missed.

Some Doggo Drawings.

Here are some drawings I did recently as part of an educational workshop. Was really good fun to draw some animals from live reference. Wound up using those refs to do a Mignola style dog creature which didn't work out at first. So, I had to take a second stab at it before I threw some photoshop into the mix.

Belated MINDBLASTS!

 

  It seems I didn't share any of my recent March MODOK Madness blog stuff over here. So, here's a little dash. Found myself doing all the rendering in black and pulling out white with a liquid paper pen. Really fun stuff, to play with and something I'm hoping to dig into moving forward.

  Adding some Photoshop halftones and color also served to make these a little more exciting. Onward.

Hey all.

Sometimes you just need a good push to take a step in the right direction. Granted I didn't supply the push in this case, but I am taking the step. It turns out you can still be making stuff on a regular basis, but not really share it with anyone. So, I'll try to fix that here will see if I can't get this going on a weekly basis, and share some of my art from the past few years and moving forward.

MODOK Marches into week two now, and we've had a great turnout of artwork from many MODOK fans.

Rigth now I am working on some other side projects, struggling here and there.  But, I'll soldier on in the belief that I'll reach some new creative ground.  This was a rough pencil sketch that i tried out a new photoshop process on.  I'm kinda happy with the workflow in this new treatment.

The Ink-month thing is drawing to a close, and with it comes a bit of self reflection...
I'm usually drawing, even when I don't post, and if the October challenge has done anything it's reminded me of the importance in getting work out there.  So I'll keep at that even after the month ebbs away and I've plucked all the candy corn from betwixt my teeth.
