SUNDAY AFTERNOON BEAR!

Yeah. I'm taking a few minutes here before I dive back into an image I'm working on to post this Bear! Lemon yellow colored like the sun outdoors right now... Wishing you all out there a good day.

On a personal note I think this is the busiest month ever at the Beers and Bears blog. The little counter thing is telling me that I've posted 54 images up here during the month of July. My arm is a little achy but I'm trying to take measures to remedy that. Think that I'll continue to push for my 400 post goal this year and will continue to share my work with you out there.

Another Owl... But a smaller one this time...

Yeah I had some Owl scribbles from a few days back.. Here was a cute little owl from some ref images...Simple paint treatment on this, and managed to find a brush setting that I really enjoyed using to make that BG... Gotta keep experimenting... Lots of stuff on the horizon.

It's a silly little bird to wrap up my day...
Man my drawing arm is sore right now. I've become increasingly concerned with this tendonitis lately and the fact that it seems to be hindering my drive to produce art. Do any of my fellow artists out there have words of wisdom for me... I'm having a rough time. Don't want to give up my love of art and making images But, wondering if my goal 4oo posts in a year is just stupid.

Smudged inks...

I really like the pentel Sign Pens. They make thick even black lines and if you rub the page after marks you can get great Smeared effects. Here's one I did a while back..

He's on guard if you gotta go to the outhouse... He'll defend you from bears and stuff.
I'd sure like to finish up this image some more when I find time. Keep your eyes pealed for a more final version of this with colors, Should be fun...

Dirly updo...

She put up her hair. I Figure it was because of the hot day. In the City, the warmer weather is often a call for most ladies with longer hair to put it UP!. Which I must admit I like. Looking at all of those alphonse Mucha images when I was younger made me a sucker for the Chignons. Letting ladies have both bountiful long hair and the added grace of an exposed shapely neck.. this image was a scribble but, I liked it... SO, I'll share it with you all here at the blog...

This Polar Bear doesn't know anything about the heat. But, on a day like this I really feel for some of the large Polar Bears kept in places like the Central Park Zoo. I imagine Zoo staff is doing their best to take care of the animals in this heat.. But, damn, not a good day to be a polar bear yesterday...

Regal Bear...

Back to Basics....

For those of you not in the NY area It's pretty humid and uncomfortable here of late.. Real warm weather like this certainly doesn't agree with me but I do the best I can in it. I always roll my eyes when I pass people on the street that are just going ON and ON about the HEAT.... These are often the same folks that whinge about the really brutal cold of the winter (which I really do enjoy) months. I jotted out this image a few days back while sitting in the heat drinking a beer. I'd be really happy if I could wear shorts to work, like I used to. But they want long pants. Thankfully the legs zip right off my slacks, effectively making them the best pair of slacks I've ever owned.

VOLATILE!!

I'm not really sure what this drawing was when I started out... Think I was originally shooting for a little cartoon streaker who was getting DRUNK on a bottle of something... However the bottle became kinda like a flask and I figured that he was doing some kind of chemistry... Which in turn made his cartoon nudity a little stranger...

Heck, maybe he's designed like one of those early UPA characters where there body is just one color and its implied that they are clothed..

Sadly, USA is getting silly with they're shows and I've missed two episodes of Burn Notice because they NEVER LOADED the stuff to they're site...Pretty lame...

Girl with a BLUE BIRD TATTOO Breakdown...

I sketched this out yesterday at the lunch counter while I waited for my breakfast eggs and bacon platter to show up... It's funny how many people will stop and look over your shoulder and ask you questions while your just sitting quietly doing some scribbles...
I threw some colors at it really quick last night and was playing with the saturation on the image...because I've been into REALLY BRIGHT colors of late... So, here's three variations on the image.. I like the super colored one but, I'm realizing that the Greyscale one seems kinda flat... Perhaps I'll need to pay more attention to my values and making cleaner contrasts in the future...

Speaking of future... I'm also please to announce that I crested over 200 posts for the first half of this year...WHOO HOOOOO! I might actually might make my 400 post goal by DEC 31! Expect more stuff in the weeks to come... I'm putting the hammer down...

RED SKULL!!

Oddly enough I posted some artwork with Captain America, on this very day exactly two years ago. That very same image had a RED SKULL Drawing in it too. Scope it out HERE. It was my very first project with the AUTUMN SOCIETY OF PHILADELPHIA. Figured I'd post this in tribute to that day. Super skribbly line work on a NOTEPAD (uncommon sketch surface for me. Like the deformation of his face...Might visit it again for when the movie releases in a few weeks...

I might have to cut back on the digital painting for a while and focus on the drawings though...I feel myself getting lazy a bit and relying too much on photo shop... Still, I do love digital painting because its simply too expensive for me to be doing more traditional paint methods..
