But regardless of that, "Here's ANOTHER!!"

Hope you dig,

My Drawing Board Days of Yore...

THE DRAWING BOARD is BACK IN ACTION!!!
In a Brief Bit of history I've been following this online forum for many years...Since the end of college, and after a few years of lurking and looking at jaw dropping art I threw my hat into the ring and joined. I've been a member now since Mar 2004, and it's been a great outlet for networking and sharing my art with outer people that are passionate about images. The forum has something for everyone Caricature to Figure drawings, Superheroes to Sexy Girls. It has it all. Plus there are also Drawing challenges that surface from time to time, just to keep my toes tapping, and my pencil moving.
In recent years I've devoted more time to the blog. My visits to the (at that time outdated) Drawing Board began to dwindle. The site suffered some long outages of service and I feared that it might fall by the wayside. BUT, the very day after my Birthday I was met with surprise to find that the DB has been REBOOTED, and its stronger then ever.
SO, I'm posting again.

This is a Caricature of JIM.
You can scope out some more of his work HERE.
I met Jim in a caricature forum at the Drawing Board, and he drew a great toon of my face...I began this one and never finished it... So I'll post it now....

Bear with buzzing Bugs...

The warm months of the year, certainly do lead to heat and insects of all sorts...
I drew this funky little bear and figured that he was wandering around with a bit of a Pigpen complex... Like he's gotten stinky by walking around in the heat all day and has some flies following him around...

I'm backlogging some posts over the next few nights to cover for me while I'm busy around the fourth o' July.

Hope you all dig..

Scribble Spirit

Well, Monday is over... and I even received a belated gift today. In the form of, a newly reinstated and revised DRAWING BOARD!!... I stated posting work on that forum almost seven years ago, and have found it to be an awesome networking resource full of fantastic artists and a wealth of great artwork.

You couldn't ask for a better artists community..
I'm glad that its running again and look forward to posting there more in the future..

For now please enjoy this Scribble Spirit...Don't be afraid he's harmless.
Hope you dig...

Berfday Beer!

Yep... Today marks my anniversary of existing on this planet for another whole year. I wanna give Big thanks to my family and friends for making things interesting and keeping an eye on me.
Personally, I didn't really feel like working too hard today, because I wanna relax a bit. So, I doodled out this bear here and pretended like he has gotten me a fine pint of beer and a gift in commemoration of the day... Planning to take it easy...
Also, I've been digging into the work of T.S. Sullivant (if the style of the bear looks familiar to any of my viewers) after having heard about him on DEJA VIEW... It just makes me wanna draw even more looking at some of these images... Very inspirational...

Finally, I wanna thank you all for sticking with me here at the blog and keeping me company.
Its the best gift a guy could ask for...

Hope you keep on digging.

Loafing Bear...

Well, its been a long day for me... Driving a truck, moving furniture up and down stairs... I imagine that I'm just gonna sit around for a while this evening and try to chill out... Kinda like this bear drawing here... I'd imagine that I'll have a similar blank expression and that I'll probably drink a beer... Maybe do some drawing...

Hope you dig..

Enjoying the Sun...

It hasn't been sunny for a few days now here in the city, and I've been uncommonly tired of late... I have however driven myself to keep sketching and scribbling... Big stack of drawings from the last few days and I'll make sure to, get them scanned and share them in the coming week. For now though...I'll bask in the thoughts of some sunshine and reasonable temperatures..

Hope you dig,

Keeping loose...

So, I'm on a project right now that's been stop and go lately.. I've been drawing to keep loose for when notes come back in and I can work on the images again... Some of my Animation background rears up when I am filling a page with sketches too... I wind up rotating the image while I draw...I had a few heads land sideways here and straightened them out for you to get a better look... If your so inclined..

Just trying to keep my mind thinking and my arm moving..and though I'd share..
Hope you dig..

Headshot!

Got some Zombies on the brain of late... Sometimes in the morning I even act like a zombie. Just fidgeting with some more polygon tool and a splash of color and texture.

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that follows me here on the blog. I know lately the output of work has been pretty heavy and hard to keep up with. But, I appreciate your time, and than you for sharing this year of work.

Hope you dig.

Wraith Study...

Years back i started a little online project called Zombie Polaroids....
It popped into my mind today while i was working on some local color project in photoshop... I would make images by drawing with the selection tools, then applying texture and color. I made a few iterations of this image and I might do another post of a different version before the week is out...
It was lots of fun to work on, I'd love any feedback you people out there might have for me..

Hope you dig,

Smoke Um' If You Got Um'...

Today was a long one...
I was tired from the weekend and maybe a bit sleep deprived when I got into the office today. I was eager though to work on my caricature assignment, and the prospect of doing some fun drawings had me in a good mood.. The day wore on and I made my way through some of the images, but it was tough work indeed. I'm getting lots of requests for things to be added and changed in these images, so I'm juggling that while trying to finish the artwork and put it to color in the next few days... I'm sure it will get done... But, all that client based work left me wanting to do some personal caricature work at days end.... So, I unearthed an ol' photo and am dusting off the Artists I admire series I'd started a while back... This is a prelim and I won't divulge the identity of the artist right yet... Suffice unto say, that if smoking cigarettes made my rendering skills half as good as this guy...I'd start lighting up immediately. This guy has been a big favorite of mine for many many years... Even made a motion graphics piece on him back in college... if I find that perhaps I can post it too.. But for now, the preliminary study...

Hope you dig,

P.S. I'll share the progression of the image along with my ref when I wrap the image up... Gonna try to do that by next week..

Heat Creature....

I was visited by the heat creature lately... Some times here in the city its just humid and awful... It's hard to explain some times..
Spent a long day walking around Queens today, hope I don't have sun burn now. But, looking forward to a new week of posts...

Hope you dig...

Friday and Push PLAY!

So I had a caricature assignment today, and it led to some scribbles on a stray sheet of paper while I was researching and trying to loosen up... Very rainy here in NYC as well, which has yielded a splendid rainbow over midtown Manhattan.. I'm about to head out of the office for some delicious homemade pizza and drinks with a good friend..
The weekend should find me drawing amid, a flurry of personal obligations and other stuff I gotta get done... But for now, Here's a page of sketches... Just threw a quick tone on them...I've not edited these...You can even see the ghost of an old drawing on the opposite side of this page...

Hope you dig, and enjoy a great weekend...

Sheilds up and Raise HELL!

So, I've got some old personal projects that I've avoided doing... But, right now I'm amidst times of change and am finding it hard to adjust. So, I'm gonna dig out some of these images and share them with you all at the very least.
This is one such image... Megaman was a pretty big part of my youth, and I'm and I'm particularly partial to Megaman 2 on the NES... Such a Great Game.

Hope you dig...

Crooner....

He's warmly colored and ready to sing some songs that will warm your heart. He may not be much too look at...with a face for radio... But, man can he sing...Just take my word for it...

Sweet Stache Showdown...

Here are some scribbles of some older dudes with some pretty cool mustaches... I figure If I'm lucky that I'll be sporting some awesome gray facial hair in the coming years... I'm optimistic that it will make me look awesome like these two guys... Furthermore, I'm also shooting to have something else posted up here by days end... wish me luck...

Hope you dig..

Polar Bear with Floating ears..

Yeah I tend to float all kinds of stuff over characters heads...Hats, Crowns, Halos. In this case its ears.. I just like to detach them sometimes and let the silhouette of the figure get a little more interesting...

Hope you dig..

Bear in a Blue Shirt..

Yeah...He's wearing some snazzy white slacks also.. His hat is a tad on the shabby side but he found a bright red feather to wear in his hat...
Just something to get my week going...

Hope you dig..

Plus Sized Post...

Women come in all kinds of wonderful shapes and sizes. It's always something I think about when drawing... I had a lot of fun with this and think I'll draw some more like them in the not to distant future... Figured she'd be sending a text message to some of her friends before a night out on the town. For now though I've gotta get back to things around my apartment, because it won't clean it self. Thereafter I'll have to get ready for work tomorrow because the bills don't pay themselves... Keep on keeping on everybody.

Hope you dig...

Club COLOR...

Been looking at lots of cool illustrations in them with ladies and bright colors.. mad me wanna take a swing at it.... So here she is with her dyed hair and white jacket... I kinda liked how this turned out... Hope to do some new ones in the not too distant future... Can't seem to get enough of these cartoon style portraits... I get to play with a little coloring and some render techniques and then move onto the next project..

Hope you dig, Comments always welcome..

Bare Bones...

Again, Something simple today... The temperature is climbing here in Manhattan and my temper isn't always at its best in the extreme heat and humidity...
I'll continue to post though...I liked the framing element in this one and might do an image with lots of framing elements like this one...

Hope you dig...

Splinter is a Radical Rat....

Here's some quick color on another TMNT sketch I passed over for that recent show...
I drew Splinter quite a bit and found myself really interested in the character. I see that he might be kinda dull at an initial glance, But when you start to consider that he trained ALL of the turtles. You get this clear picture that he has the ability to throw down and be a total bad ass, he just chooses not to and this makes him a great sage type character.
The wise Teacher, who has knowledge and skills along with the wisdom to use those assets intelligently.

I like that concept. I'd really like to have the equivalent of that in my artwork... Really powerful visualization skills and rendering techniques. With the clear headedness to use them smartly on my work. I've been thinking about going back to school of some sort lately, so maybe this is influencing my thinking too on a subconscious level.

Perhaps I'll meditate on these thoughts later this evening...stay cool everyone.
Hope you dig.

Deformed Goblin...

So, the doctor tells me I might be looking at a spot of tennis elbow... I've been experiencing some aches and discomfort in my forearm now for a month or so and figured that I needed to do something about it... It's kind of amazing how things like this make you feel older too. I'd told myself years ago that I'd take the best care of my arms, shoulders, elbows, hand, and wrists. Because I want to draw for as long as possible...
But, in spite of needed rest for my ol' drawing arm I'll keep posting, at a relaxed pace... May do some simpler images for a while.
Hope you dig..

Dashing VILLAIN!

Here's a Dashing Villainous neighbor type dude... I figured he might have some kind of evil powers or something, and chases around the kids that walk on his lawn... Even gave him Village of the damned hair.. Because it seemed appropriate...I kinda think that the brightly dressed and relatively normal looking folk make better evil characters then some ol' monster.. Though I love drawing monsters too.

I'm getting back into the swing of posting stuff here.
Hope you dig...

Colors and blending modes..

I'm kinda beat today so I'll post up these quickie sketches with some color thrown on them. Not sure what I was thinking with the color selection... just havin' fun...
Expect more of these int he coming weeks...

Hope you dig um'.

THE CHORES OF NAMING...

"Splinter Searches for Baby Names"
Pen and Colored Pencil on Craft Paper.

I had lots of idea's for this Show.... Sketched, discarded, considered, and debated over what route I'd take in Tribute to the TMNT that I grew up with. In the end my final idea was similar to my first one... I like Splinter.. But, with the evolution of the work I found A very funny idea that I kinda latched onto...

I hope you Dig the work... and wanna thank everyone for making last nights show...AWESOME!!..

Partrolling the ROOFTOPS...

Donatello, was/is my favorite turtle.
However, this is yet another drawing I passed over for my final showpiece. I do like the pose, and the composition so I figured that I'd share it with you all. I'm excited to be a part of this show tonight.

Above is a little snippet of my final show work..it just so happens to be a baby turtle... Stay tuned to the blog for the full image which I'll post tomorrow after the show's opening is concluded..

Hope you dig.

Enemies with Fearsome Helmets and Pauldrons lined with blades...

Here's a Shred-head sketch that I passed on while brainstorming on the TMNT SHOW... Liked the shapes I was playing with though.. Though I'd share it with you all. I cropped out some of the surrounding image I'd planned, and stuck with the groovy profile shapes his helmet can make... I think the original image Idea was him interrogating splinter...From the first live action movie...

Hope you dig...
