COSMIC WANDERER W/ BLASTER

He is traveling through the darkest reaches of space in search of color correction... Professional color correction. Until then he'll set his chroma blaster to saturate and wish for the best...

TIN MAN

This Image started out as a little study in Illustrator. Wanted to make a version of the Tin Man, from Oz. It seemed like a ggod chance to render some technical looking stuff in illustrator.

Thi early version actually wasn't really working out to my satisfaction. I couldn't seem to find a way to get the poses to work out in a way I was happy with. Later that evening I actually sketched out this little image idea that got me thinking.

Thus bringing me to this final version, there are a few things I'd probably edit if I were to draw it again. But, for now I'm happy with it. Let me know what you all think if you have a moment.

Hope you dig,
P

This guy here is in the business of growing Smokin' Tobacco... He has the seeds and everything...

Hope you dig.

Fire Font

This guy here came from an idea I'd had to have a head projecting from a font of spiritual fire... He's particularly calm in spite of the flames involved.

Hope you dig,

Brushpen Follies...

I've been messing about with brush pens lately. This little guy is the product of some fast brushwork on the train, and a little photoshop... Love the loose lines you can get from a brush tip marker.

Hope you dig,

MORESTACHE!

I'm on my way out for a turkey dinner and I'm taking my stache with me...
Enjoy your holidays everyone.

The Menacing Tree DEVIL

When Settlers first came to the new world they didn't know what to make of this large furry rodent that lived in the trees... It would ravage crops and livestock as well as Destroy patio furniture... Early settlers attempted to stamp out the population, with no success. Its believed the tree devil still exists in remote regions of Manitoba.

I think I had squirrels on the brain when I sketched this image. Sorta halted myself from getting to much more sucked into the color and rendering...

Hope you dig.
P

Fountain Drinks.

This guy likes fountain drinks... He has them often. Right now he's having a Sir. Cherry Burps-a-lot, at the beach... He'll probably have to take a leak soon, but for now he's enjoying the carbonated goodness..

Hope you dig.

Magnificent Curly type Beard..

Seems lately when I decide to draw some kind of medieval dude that I wanna give him some wild bear or heavy duty facial hair... It never fails to keep my amused when I'm drawing or painting... So here's a guy with some facial curls in a shade of red...

Hope you dig.

15/16THS

We'll I'm pressing ever onward with this 400 posts endeavor. and putting in some extra time trying to complete all of the images, before the holiday gets out of hands. right now its only looking like there are few weeks worth of posts left in this challenge I put out for myself a few months back. Just looking forward to kicking out a few more fun images in 2011. I guess anything I don't get drawn, scanned, or colored will probably be showing up here in 2o12.. But, I'd rather not think about that now...

Too much on my plate at the moment, gotta get cracking.
Hope you dig...

Liquid Spirit...

This is a liquid spirit. He popped out of my pencil on a page load of drawings. Figured I'd do a quick color treatment on him. Dinked around with more filters then I normally do and kinda liked what I saw.

Hope you Dig,

Rabbit W/ Midget Ears

He likes Carrots just like the other rabbits but he has super tiny ears. With some pretty ridiculous teeth too boot. But don't tell him that, those teeth are pretty sharp...

Bright Blonde Spike

This fella has some slick shades and a whole tub of styling product in his back pocket. He keeps his do looking stylish with a modest amount. Only three or four pounds per Follicle. Then he pops on his sun shades and heads for the beach with his wake board...
Gonna shoot the curl...

Hope you dig.
P

Curly Stache

this is a little corner of a page of sketches that I didn't really love... but I liked this guy... Figured he might be a strong man or something of that ilk... Hope you dig his super duper strong and curly type stache.

Capn' PirateCrab

On a Pirate vibe lately. I remember drawing this and thinking it was something I saw potential to make some funny character studies. Pretty sure its been done to death now that I'm looking at it again.. But, heck I'll post it up because It seemed like fun.

Hope you dig.
P

Staches and Tats

This drawing came from outta nowhere... Drawn on the back of some long forgotten photo reference from one of my caricature gigs... Like his weird nose and wish I'd scribbled on some more tattoos. Perhaps I'll Do some more of this in the near future.

Hope you dig him.

Capn' Winston Hurley

He's a captain from a large cruise ship... On this ship, he makes crazy matches and helps people find love... He smokes a tangy blend of pipe tobacco that just puts everyone on the boat at ease... It puts them in the mood for love....., and snack cakes.

Hope you dig,

Mustache.

Yeah I usually post up a mustache sketch around this time of year in honor of my fallen beard and my growing a mustache for the charity Mustaches for Kids..

Hope you dig this scribble.
P

CatCLOPS...

This one eyed feline jumped off my pencil around the Halloween season. Liked the idea of a MONO Optical cat from the spectral world. It uses its glowing orange eye to hunt for mice in the night. If he focuses he can also use his super eye to look through men's soul's.. I've named him Fromley.
Hope you dig,
P

Sorta Seagal...

I had the boy from Lansing Mi, in mind when I started this drawing. Might have been an evening where I'd watched Above the Law... I thought this cartoon version would look good in a crazy action pose.

Hope you dig..

Subject Matters..

So,
I've neglected drawing this stuff for just a while... My apologies...
I fiddled out some little bear drawings and decided to flex some of my rusty Korean writing skills with the aid of a bilingual dictionary.
Funny enough, the Korean words for sword is very similar to the word for Bear. Writing them out shows how closely they resemble eachother.

Beyond that I just have a page of little bear drawings in different situations. Then tacked on some Korean words. Some of them are actually written and pronounced just like they are in English (Hive is "Ha-ee-bu"), but a few of the words are unique (Butterfly is "Na-Bee)...

Placemat smatterings...

Here's a placemat from a few nights back while out eating with my friend Liam. I was pretty focused on inhaling a BLT with some chips but, I did squeeze out a few scribbles that I liked... SO this is pretty bodged together for a post... Minimal colors, drawn with one of those micron pens so the lines are minimal and clean I hope... I really do love the place mates with the Grecian themed design pattern around the outside... Always makes for a great frame..

Hope you dig.
P

Eerie Green Aura..

I was liking this guys face.. He seems like a fellow that was into the supernatural... He is a very strange fellow.

Hope you dig,

Admiral Pendelhurst

He was known for his stache, and his shiney red snoot...
He sailed the high seas in order to loot...

Nobody said he was a good Admiral..

p.s. I really love how the word "ahoy" looks for some reason..

VectorFOX

I'm still fussing around with Illustrator... I tend to bring things in to photoshop at some point just to apply colors and textures and such... even do some color mods... The good news is that illustrator is slowly growing on me. I like doing design/ shape based drawing and college... and this program lends itself very well to that..

I'll post up some more when I get it wrapped up... For now though, enjoy the fox.

P

Mishmosh

I post a lot of digital work here on the blog in spite of the fact that I draw quite a bit, now and then. I've had friends ask why I don't post my images in a more unedited fashion. My sketch pages can in fact get a little messy. This page here is a good example of such. There is a bit of color on it. But, it was drawn on the back of a bit of photostat that I was using for a showpiece... I also drew an image on the page earlier that day (which I didn't like too much) and, later drew over because i'd run out of blank sheets... In honest, I kinda like the MISH MOSH of the image, and imagine I'll try to do more stuff like this in the future...

Another Late night Lady...

Another fine lady. Seriously enjoying faces with lots of angles and character. I'm here working on a Saturday afternoon from the ol' home studio...

Hope you dig.
P

Society Gal

Another sketch from the ol' pad a few weeks back... Adding in some of the white graphic shapes lent sort of a deco feeling to the image while kinda sticking to my personal like for using the white space around the image to make negative forms for part of the image framing. In the end, I just like drawing the pretty ladies every once in a blue moon...

Hope you dig her...

Headed Out...

About to scoot for the day, and figured some head scribbles would do the trick for the ol' blogger page... Drawing lots of beards lately because they're always on my mind, and they're just plain fun to draw... Throw a high five at your monitor if you agree...

Hope you dig,
P

HALBERDS AND BEARD HAIR

Yep....I don't look like this...
Well, sorta... I did loosely modeled the sketch on myself...
Dig that beard...
Winged Floating Helm was fun to draw, also..

Cartoon Dawg..

Every once in a while I love to draw a cartoon animals in a style that you might see in a feature film or a Saturday morning cartoon... Dang I miss the Disney afternoon block of television that I grew up with...

Hope you dig.
P

Gosh...

I kinda imagined him saying "GOSH" when I did the drawing.. Quick color process on this one otherwise pretty straight forward... I draw silly crazy looking faces a lot lately.

hope you dig.

AUTUMN BIRD..

Grey with hints of bright color is the way I like autumn. One of my favorite seasons of the year... Hands down. This here is an autumn bird of sorts, he is partial to pumpkin pies and apple cider... Much like myself.

Hope you dig.
P

Under Over Under...

I'm drawing strange and creepy faces more and more of late, mostly because they're fun to draw. I know I've reused a drawing here, but I was in the mood to use a word balloon.
I'll see about doing more story based images in the year to come. I'll try to keep busy with drawings and post, but I'd like to shoot for having more stories in the images.

Hope you dig.

350

Unless my count is completely mucked up this may be post 350. Out of my goal for 400 for the year... I'm excited that I seem to be on schedule and mostly happy with my output. I've certainly tried to keep my pencils and pens busy drawing.

Wish me luck I hope you dig,

Fantastic Controtions of Movement...

Some weeks back during a few minutes of downtime I had a sheet of paper out and I was sketching some dogs. I was looking at distinctive breeds when I stumbled across a page full of Greyhound pictures.. Therein, I found an image of one running (i'd assume racing) at top speed, and the lines and movement of its body simply begged me to fiddle out a quick drawing... I really like how it came out, in spite of its rough simplicity.perhaps I'll be able to visit it again in the future...

Hope you dig.

Getting AHEAD...

These heads are from random corners of my last batch of scans.. I liked them enough to kinda cobble them all together here so that you can scope them out...

Hope you dig..
P

ReceededHair with Expanded forehead...

everyday I march towards my future without hair. It certainly isn't by choice but, it is inevitable and I'll work with it as best I can... I spotted a guy on the train a few days back and he had a very receded hairline, with a super clean delineation between Hair and scalp... Looked like he ha a decent head of hair on the whole. it sparked me to draw this fella up.

Hope you dig,
P

POST NO BILLS....

SO I did this Bill Murray artwork for a gallery show out in California... It opened on the third and I really grappled with the likeness of this truly excellent Actor. However, it seems every time I do a new showpiece I get slightly better with my planning and though processes regarding making artwork... Better Troubleshooting, thumbnails and the like help me work through to a finished image faster...
I even stumbled onto a pretty cool alternate Idea while discussing things with a friend, which I might look into at a later date. Sadly, I had a deadline for this. Which meant I needed to knock it out...
I opted to portray Bill in Osmosis Jones, which is a movie that not everyone loved. But for me it has a soft spot. I actually met Bill Murray at the opening screening for this film at the Egyptian theater out in Hollywood. I actually sat behind Murray during the film screening. It was a treat, as far I was concerned and I got to chat with him for just a few minutes before he left...Really nice guy. From there I spent the rest of the evening drinking HUGE (plastic solo sized) cups of free booze on an empty stomach. Whilst shooting the breeze with Molly Shannon and some other friends..
All and all, the night was awesome... The hangover the following morning was not so great...

Hope you dig.

BOAT FANATIC... Inspired by Bob Staake

This is Horatio, he likes boats... Schooners, clippers, steamers, and U's... it doesn't matter.. He just gets wild eyed crazy when he's out on the beach with his Boats..
I'm still working on my illustrator chops and applying bits of photoshop where I don't completely understand all of the illustrator functions for shading, gradation, and texture applications. Furthermore I've had a little Bob Staake on the brain with my drawings and recent re-introduction to Illustrator... I love shape based drawing so much..

Hope you dig..

PIPE

Wrapped up a small freelance caricature gig, and though I'd post this guy smoking a pipe that wound up in the margins of one of my pages of prelim drawings... Nothing fancy, quickie photoshop work over my verithin pencil sketch... I just enjoy drawing faces and pipe...

Hope you dig.
